I recommend this model as the perfect starter kiln for fusers creating glass objects other than jewelry. I know the rationale is to start small, but if you buy a kiln that is much smaller than this, you will grow out of it in a VERY short time. This model will serve your needs for a long time to come.

The GF2E model is a top loading kiln only.
The GF2E square design expands the firing space provided by traditional cylindrical glass kilns. This model has elements in the lid of the kiln to provide radiant heat needed when fusing temperature is reached and elements in the kiln walls for conductive heat. Elements in the firing chamber are used to evenly heat the glass piece and the lid element is used when fusing temperature is reached. It has a maximum temperature range of 1700°F. This kiln is equipped with a lid lift assist for easy opening and closing of the kiln lid.
This 240 volt glass fusing kiln comes equipped with a tall 18” metal stand, stainless steel jacket, lid wedge and RTC 1000 12 Key electronic controller. Fits an 18" square shelf.
