Fusing Multiple Layers - with Emma Varga

In this workshop, Emma shares her unique experience and love of experimentation, detailing her method for fusing and casting multiple layers composed of both sheet glass and delicate Pate de Verre components. Using fine powders, stringers, frits, applying color, (unexpectedly in small to minute quantities), these and other mosaic-like elements will be combined, layered, stacked, attached, and then fused in the kiln to form 3-dimensional glass objects that are visually intriguing.
As always, theoretical areas such as firing schedules will be covered in detail, along with information on cold-working techniques which can be completed out of class enabling students to further develop the finish of their pieces if desired.
No matter if the glass-working experience students bring to this class is small or vast. Everyone can participate to design and create several 3D objects.
